Worried about your elderly parents while on holiday?
Are you worried about leaving your elderly parents alone while you go on holiday? Maybe anxious that they will forget to take medications, not eat properly, feel lonely or hurt themselves and not be able to access help? Or maybe you might live far away and cannot be with your elderly relative for Christmas.
While you are usually there for your parents throughout the year, you may feel that if you go on holiday you will compromise their safety and wellness. Yet we all need a break to refresh ourselves.
Having a friendly person pop in to see that Mum and Dad are keeping well could be a good way to ease your anxiety and ensure that every day living continues for them.
Just a little help might be all they need to make sure that medication is taken, that they are safe and secure at night or maybe see a friendly face during the day to make them lunch. They may need support to start the day on the right foot with showering, dressing and breakfast. Our support is very flexible and affordable and our support workers are chosen for their friendly caring attitude.
We're here to help whatever the circumstances
Talking to someone knowledgeable can make a big difference. Please call us to talk about options and get some helpful hints on how to ensure Mum and dad stay well and safe while you take a break.
Panacea is certified to the New Zealand Home and Community Support Sector Standards and is a member of the New Zealand Home Health Association. Rest assured you are dealing with a reputable company which has over 30 years experience. Only support workers with sound references including a police check will ever enter your home.

A note on loneliness
Christmas and New Year for most is a time of festive cheer and being together in the warmth of family and friends. Sadly that's not the case for everyone and a growing number of older people will spend the festive season alone as regular activities are suspended over the holiday period. According to recent research, one in three people over the age of 60 may go for a whole week without speaking to anyone. A staggering one in ten may go for a whole month without any human contact.

Introducing Panacea EOS - Enrichment Opportunity Services
A sudden life changing event can change everything - daily routines, family dynamics, social networks, finances, job opportunities and sporting activities - and leave a host of unanswered questions. Many opportunities exist but how to access them may not be obvious.
Panacea is very excited to announce a new service for clients. The service is called Enrichment Opportunity Service. (EOS) We have established the service to link our clients to the vast array of opportunities for enrichment that exist.
We have appointed Annie Farnworth to set up and run this service for us. Annie is the mother of an eleven year old boy who sustained a traumatic brain injury at six week's of age.
Annie has an extensive knowledge of the opportunities and resources available to people with serious injuries, and it is her passion to use her knowledge to help other people to find their best pathways..
"My involvement in the disabled community has introduced me to many amazing and inspirational people of all abilities. Through these connections, EOS will provide Panacea clients and their families with quality advice and guidance to connect them with services and networks in their communities." says Annie.

Panacea Travelability - March 7th 2011
Panacea Healthcare is proud to announce the launch of a new online travel website www.panaceatravelability.com
The website is unique for New Zealand tourism in that it enables people with mobility restrictions - wheelchair users, people using crutches or people with other specialist mobility needs to plan and book their complete holiday including accommodation, activities to do and transport options that meet their mobility needs. Download a brochure by clicking PanaceaTravelability.
We built it because we could see the frustrations that our clients have experienced when trying to plan and book travel for them and their families. We will encourage users of the site to feedback any experiences that they have - good or bad - so that the site becomes increasingly valuable.
Whilst Panacea has underwritten the cost of establishing the website, there is no intention of making a profit from it. We have set up the site to service the disabled community and any profits will go back into sponsoring the disabled community.
