Looking after a terminally ill loved one at home can be an intense and exhausting time for family and friends. Panacea can provide a little extra support to allow primary caregivers some relief. The support may vary from an hour or so during the day to help with some cleaning or shopping, or providing assistance needed during the night to allow others to rest.
We help families support their loved ones.
The care that Panacea provides may be funded by the Ministry of Health under the Carer Support programme described below. It may be funded by Hospice, or may even be accessed and paid for privately.
Please talk to us if you think that we can be of assistance to you or someone you know who may be suffering from a terminal illness.
If you are being cared for by a loved one at home, your caregiver may need some time out.
Carer Support is a subsidy funded through the Ministry of Health or a District Health Board. It assists the unpaid, full time carer of a person with a disability to take a break by contributing to the cost of using a support worker to give your caregiver some time out.
Panacea can provide support workers on a short term basis to provide you with support. To find out whether you are eligible you need to talk , in the first instance, to your GP who will help you to apply.
See the Ministry of Health web site for more information.
